Man killed in Luton shooting

Ebc Report,Luton:::
Police are investigating in Brunel Road, Luton, where they believe the man was fatally injured
A man has died following a shooting in Luton on Tuesday.
The victim, believed to be 46 years old, was driven by friends to Luton and Dunstable Hospital with gunshot injuries but died shortly after arriving, police said.
Officers were called to the accident and emergency department just after midnight on Wednesday.
Police believe the man was injured during an incident outside a house in Brunel Road in the town.
The Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit want to trace anyone who saw a white transit-style van seen speeding from the Brunel Road area.
A silver BMW and a silver Vauxhall Corsa were also found abandoned near the hospital, both of which have been recovered for further examination.
Det Sup Jeff Hill said he "would not be drawn into speculating" on why the man was shot but believed the key to finding out what happened and why could be found "within the community".
He said: "We will not tolerate gun crime and officers will not leave any stone unturned in the pursuit of those responsible for this man's death."
He urged anyone with any information that may help the murder inquiry to contact police.

royal correspondent(weastar times/wp/telegraph):::
Prince, who recently appeared on BBC Countryfile, will write his own “extended” leader column for the magazine as well as commissioning articles on his favourite topics.
It will be the first time a member of the Royal family has guest edited a magazine so comprehensively, as he and the Duchess of Cornwall take the reins for a week.
The magazine, to be published on November 13 in honour of the Prince’s 65th birthday, is expected to contain articles about rural affairs, organic farming, architecture and at least some of his 16 charities.
Although Clarence House disclosed the format of the magazine will not be identical to every other week, the Prince may also edit regular slots such as the news pages, letters and the famous ‘girls in pearls’ section.
Country Life, a weekly magazine dating back 116 years, is said by representatives of the Prince of Wales to be the perfect place to showcase his “wide range of interests and charitable activities”.
Each and every story will be chosen particularly to suit his causes, including links to The Prince’s Trust, the Prince’s Countryside Fund and Prince’s Regeneration Trust.
The Duchess of Cornwall is also expected to make suggestions, with meetings scheduled with the magazine’s permanent editor “very soon” to begin planning.
Mark Hedges, editor of Country Life, said: “Since its launch in 1897, Country Life has been privileged to be given access to the Royal Family at times of national celebrations.
“However, this is the first time that a member of the Royal Family has edited the magazine or any other publication.
“The Prince of THE ROYAL ENGLAND  is renowned for his championing of the countryside and has selected the contents for his birthday edition to reflect his personal involvement and interests.
“We are delighted to have the opportunity to cover aspects of The Prince’s work that have never been written about before.”
Last month, the Prince of THE ROYAL ENGLAND  guest edited an edition of Countryfile, in which he spoke of the importance of organic farming, his love of walking and his favourite jacket.

national terror control desk(weastar times/wp/Ebc):::
Two men from Birmingham have pleaded guilty to being part of a terrorist cell whose leaders were planning a suicide bomb attack in
Bahader Ali and Mohammed Rizwan admitted engaging in conduct in preparation of acts of terrorism.
In February, Ali's brother, Ashik Ali and two other men, Irfan Naseer and Irfan Khalid, were found guilty of planning to be suicide bombers.
Six other men have admitted terrorism charges.All are due to be sentenced later this month.
Mohammed Rizwan, 29, and Bahader Ali, 34, are from the Sparkbrook area of Birmingham.
During February's trial, jurors heard the men planned to rival the 7 July and 9/11 atrocities and set off up to eight bombs in rucksacks, using timers to detonate the charges.
Police described them as "committed, passionate extremists".
They were arrested in 2011 amid fears an attack was imminent.
Surveillance
Detectives believe it was the most significant terror plot to be uncovered since the 2006 conspiracy to blow up transatlantic airliners using bombs disguised as soft drinks.
Khalid even boasted that the attack was "another 9/11" and "revenge for everything".
Six other men have also pleaded guilty to preparing for acts of terrorism: Ishaaq Hussain, 21, Shahid Khan, 21, Naweed Ali, 25, and Khobaib Hussain, 22, Rahin Ahmed, 27, and Mujahid Hussain, 21.
Counter-terrorism officers in the West Midlands and MI5 ran one of the largest undercover operations in recent years to identity the plotters and stop them.
The jury heard that the security services had the men under such close surveillance that they recorded them laughing and joking about their plans and how they did not need to worry about their car's MOT, because they would be dead by the time it expired.
The men were arrested after recorded conversations revealed Naseer's depth of knowledge about bomb-making and the three discussed time frames for attacking targets.
They had discussed targets while under surveillance but had not settled on a final plan. During his police interview, Ali told detectives that they wanted to wear explosive vests and had considered attacking British soldiers.
The trial heard the men were inspired by sermons of US-born Islamist cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, who was killed in Yemen in September 2011.
