Woman raped by two men close to south-east London train station

Two men have raped a young woman in the early hours of the morning close to a south-east London train station.
The victim, aged in her early 20s, was reportedly attacked by two unknown men on Saturday.
Detectives have launched an investigation following the incident which happened around 2am in Station Road, Shortlands.
Passers-by reported police and forensic officers combing the area close to the station.
One Twitter user described “police everywhere” and said the road had been “taped off”.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “The woman is being supported by specialist officers.
“There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.”

Daniel Wanjiru wins the men's elite race at the London Marathon

Kenyan runner Daniel Wanjiru has won the men’s elite race at the London Marathon.
The 24-year-old held off the challenge of long-distance legend Kenenisa Bekele, the man who holds the 5,000 metres and 10,000 metres world records as well as eight Olympic and world titles. 
He finished with a time of two hours five minutes and 48 seconds.
It was the biggest victory of his career, having previously won the 2016 Amsterdam Marathon.
 

TOWIE star's boyfriend Arthur Collins arrested

The boyfriend of TOWIE star Ferne McCann has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an alleged acid attack at a south east London nightclub.
Arthur Collins, 25, was hunted by police this week in connection with the attack at the Mangle club in Hackney on Bank Holiday Monday, which left two people blind.
He was found and arrested by armed police in Rusden in Northamptonshire on Saturday night and is set to be taken to a London police station, a Met spoksesman said.
Mr Collins’ celebrity girlfriend Ms McCann made an impassioned appeal for him to hand himself in this week, claiming to have been told by officers he may have fled to Spain.
A Met spokesman said: "Arthur Collins, 25, was arrested at an address in Rushden, Northants on Saturday night, 22 April by officers from the Met's Specialist Crime & Operations and Hackney Borough, with the assistance of armed officers from the East Midlands Operational Support Service and Northamptonshire Police.
"Collins has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He will be taken into custody at a London police station in due course."
One man has been charged in connection with the alleged attack.
Andre Phoenix, 21, has been charged with seven counts of grievous bodily harm, having been arrested on Friday.
A second man, 24, was also arrested on Friday and has since been released from custody.
A 22-year-old woman was left blind in one eye in the attack in Sidworth Street on Monday, April 17, while detectives revealed on Friday a second victim has also been blinded.
Twenty people were hurt after the “noxious substance” was sprayed into a crowd of revellers at the night club.



 
 

Man knifed to death in broad daylight in north London

A murder probe has been launched after a man was knifed to death in north London.
The victim, aged in his 40s, was found suffering stab wounds in Exeter Road, Enfield, around 1.30pm on Saturday.
Paramedics from London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance battled to save his life for 45 minutes but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two men, aged 18 and 21, and a 17-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
They are being held by police for questioning.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Next of kin have been informed, but officers await formal identification.
“Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating.
