Woman ‘shouted kill, kill, kill while brandishing foot-long kitchen knife’ in busy town centre

Crime reporter(wp/es):
A woman stabbed a man after brandishing a foot-long kitchen knife and shouting “kill, kill, kill” in a busy town centre, witnesses say.
Abdul Razzaq, 43, says he confronted the woman after she produced the huge knife in the centre of Barnsley on Saturday morning.
He said she stabbed one man in the shoulder and then walked around the streets in the Peel Square area terrifying shoppers.
Mr Razzaq described how he followed the woman and alerted police to where she was. He said he convinced her to put the knife down after police arrived.
He said: "I ran for this lady and she was saying 'kill, kill, kill, kill'. Everybody ran."
"People were scared. They were really scared," he added.
Hannah Fuller, 24, a member of staff at the Subway sandwich shop, said businesses were forced to close for an hour as officers rushed towards the railway platform.
"We had to close for an hour - Peel Street was closed," she said.
Flower stall owner Craig Ward, 42, said he saw a woman stop and pull out the massive knife.
He said: "She was walking past and threw her bag on the floor, then pulled the knife out and started chasing a bloke up Market Hill - she was screaming 'kill, kill, kill'.”
South Yorkshire Police said one person was arrested following the incident at about 8.20am.
The force added: "An investigation is now under way and in its early stages to establish whether this is an isolated incident and whether the individual acted alone."
It is believed only one person was hurt in the incident and his injuries are not serious.
A number of bins and other areas in Peel Square were cordoned off and white-suited forensics officers were examining the scenes.
